On Saturday, we prepared for the arrival of Dortha and Mark. They stayed behind in West Yellowstone to visit with their kids and grandchildren a few more days. They came in around noon, and got parked two sites from us. This rv park has 50 amp service in every other site in this section, so they are not right next to us.
We had lunch planned, and got that ready as soon as they got here and got set up. Later on in the afternoon, we took a drive and stopped at Best Buy to check out some software and a card reader for our camera cards. Then we stopped by the river walk on the way back to get a little exercise and see the falls.
The walkers:
After we got back, we sat outside and enjoyed the evening.
This morning, we were up and out the door by 8:00 for a day trip to Jackson, Wyoming and the Grand Teton National Park. It’s about an hour and a half drive from here, through some really beautiful farmland and a couple of mountain passes.
We got into Jackson, where Dortha wanted to stop and pick up some pictures of their rafting trip they’d ordered. That accomplished, we headed out of town towards the park. Just a little ways before the park entrance, we stopped that this turn out for some photo opportunities of the other side of the Tetons: Then, as we approached the entrance to the park, we had a special treat. This cow moose:
And, an added bonus, a young bull moose too. We watched him cross the Snake River. Here he is just reaching the opposite bank:
We then made our way to Jenny Lake, where we walked a short ways on a trail. We had the dogs with us, so we didn’t walk very far, as dogs are not allowed on the trails. But who could resist these two:
Dortha loves to test the water everywhere, even where it’s just melted snow:
And, the mountains here are awesome:
Lunch time, so we made our way back into Jackson for a Chinese Buffet, followed by some shopping, exploring, and then, of course, a little ice cream.
Finally it was time to head back over the mountains to “our” side in Idaho Falls. What a fun time!

What beautiful country! And you are right..who could resist those two sweet furbabies. Those little scarfs are adorable, so right for their personalities. I'm sure enjoying your trip. Give Jenny a hug for me when you see her.
Love you, K
We love that area and look forward to going back and seeing it again with a lot more time. Two weeks vacation doesn't even cover the trip to and from W. Yellowstone to Tetons always in a hurry.
Very cute scarves. Nice pictures of your surroundings also.
Nice pics - that is one area that I've always wanted to see - more so after reading your blog.
I'm surprised she didn't get "cold Feet"! (that was a joke) Enjoyed the tour,,,pretty country...
