Twenty-seven years ago today it was hot, hot, hot in Colorado Springs, and we didn’t mind a bit. That’s the day Jim and I, along with our 3 children, created a blended family and began a whole new life’s journey. We have certainly experienced the usual ups and downs faced by any couple, but since we each had kid(s) from previous marriages, we had a few extra challenges thrown in. Add to the mix both of us trying to further our educations and careers, and it got very interesting. But it all led to the incredible lifestyle we enjoy today, so it’s all good.
Today was made even more special because our dear friends in Amarillo, Renea and Monte, exchanged their wedding vows, so we’ll share this date for the years to come. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Miller!
Yesterday was moving day for us, after enjoying the beautiful Upstate New York sights that included Niagara Falls and the Finger Lakes region (yes, there are reportedly 96 wineries/breweries/distilleries in the area, but we only hit 7 wineries and one distillery) before moving along to Saratoga RV Park just outside Saratoga Springs :
We had an easy 250 mile travel day, most of it along I-90, the New York Throughway. That little road trip cost us just over $36 in tolls!
One of the wineries we enjoyed along Seneca Lake had a beautiful garden area with some fun “yard art”:
Seneca, one of the 11 Finger Lakes:
Jim enjoyed his tasting!
Today we took care of some settling in chores before taking a drive up to Glens Falls to have a look at the Hudson River:
and check out the location of a Laundromat. After that we did a bit of shopping in the Saratoga Springs area and found a casino to spend a little time in before heading to The Olde Bryon Inn for an early dinner.
We were treated very well at this 1773 institution. Our waitress took a picture of us and mounted it in a commemorative card and gave us a complimentary chocolate mousse.
We’ll be here for a week before the next installment of our great Northeast Adventure.
Thanks for all the well-wishes posted on Facebook! It’s been a great day and we’re hoping for another 27 years together!

Michael and I wish you both the very best on this anniversary day! You look so happy!
Congratulations on 27 years. We blended our family 39 years ago this month so I can relate. It just keeps getting better.
And just when we thought that you'd fallen off the blogging go round. Nice posts - glad you're back. Be sure to blog your travels through Maine and email us to pick our brains if need be. Can't wait to see you guys again in Summerdale.
Sounds like you are enjoying the Saratoga Springs area. Peggy and I lived there in the late 1970s. See ya next week.
Glad to see your blog back again, missed it! Jim's pics & comments on FB are good but this is better! Loved the pics, will be watching for more. Looks like you had a nice anniversary 'date'. Travel safe!
