More of the Same

It's almost the same as a job. We get up, have coffee and head to the storage unit. I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of this routine.

We are, however, much closer to being finished. Yesterday our son, Josh, came and picked up the "boy toys", which included an air compressor, more tools, two big tool boxes on wheels and a few other miscellaneous things. Jim's friend stopped by as well and picked up our dishes, which we gladly sold him for a nominal fee.

This morning, the used furniture store folks picked up all of the pieces they bought, and our daughter, Robin, brought her friends and their truck and picked up yet more stuff. Even the owner of the facility came by and picked up the items he bought.

What's left now are boxes that we need to sort through once more to decide whether the contents will still be kept and stored with the kids, or donated to charity. We expect to finish all of it and be out of there by a week from tomorrow. The things we will keep are pictures, quilts and other family mementos. Everything else goes. Once again, we are experiencing the free feeling we felt last year when we let go of so many other "things."

Jim insisted on getting me a Mother's Day present, so he gave it to me today, a day early. What a romantic guy -- he got me a new, small inverter for my laptop. The old one gave out a couple of trips ago. Now I'll be able to have the computer on again as we travel without running down its battery. Thanks, Honey!

This morning after we left the storage unit, we stopped at an old favorite breakfast place, Gunther Toody's. For a lot of years, it was a Saturday tradition to go out to breakfast. We spent many of those at this favorite "50's" diner.

At 3:18 this morning, we were both rudely awakened by the sound and sensation of a tremendous gust of wind and the pattering of rain on the roof. The storm battered us around for a while, then things quieted down and we were able to sleep a little bit more. When we got up, we weren't sure if we were all finished with the crazy weather or not. Luckily, it was clear as our furniture got picked up.

As we arrived at Gunther's, I got this picture of Pikes Peak with the storm clouds behind it, and the last of the rain clouds moving away in the foreground.

Ok, I'm ready for the wind to die down again. This afternoon, it's started up again, and we're rockin and rollin! Ah, Springtime in the Rockies...

What a thoughtful guy!

Sounds like you're making a lot of headway on getting rid of the storage unit. Good for you!
