Anyway, maybe tomorrow I'll take some pictures of the area in it's green finery.
The grill waits...
Well, at least the pine tree is green!
Mr. Finch gets out of the wet for a minute.
Yesterday we had guests join us for lunch. The original plan had been to grill burgers or steaks. Once again, Mother Nature let us know she's not in favor of grilling out just yet. The forecast was wind. Sure enough, the wind started up mid-morning. Anticipating this, I'd gotten up early and put a roast in the crockpot, along with potatoes, baby carrots and onions.
Our friends Al and Deb, and Gary, arrived mid day. Deb used to work for a local bakery and perfected the art of making cheesecakes. She is very well known to many of us for her talent. Graciously, she made a cherry cheesecake for us to enjoy. I was so eager to taste it, I forgot all about taking a picture. Well, you couldn't imagine the real taste of it from a picture anyway. I can't really describe how good it is, but I can tell you that I've never had, and never expect to have, any cheesecake that can come close to Deb's. She also brought a three-bean salad that was excellent, as well as deviled eggs. Gary brought a cake that he's well known for making too! Thanks, guys!
This is Deb and Al. Somehow Gary manages to elude the camera, but we'll get a picture of him one of these days.
It was a fine meal and we all enjoyed ourselves. Al and Gary both worked at the power plant, I worked with both of them in my time there. Yesterday, I discovered that Gary and I went to the same high school too! Small world!
As we sat and visited, the conversation naturally turned to travel. Al & Deb love to camp, as does Gary, in fact they often travel together. We were talking about South Dakota and I was trying to get some ideas of places to see and things to do for when we visit this summer. Deb mentioned a small town in South Dakota where they'd eaten prime rib. She said Gary liked that prime rib a LOT! So much that, well, let's just say he enjoyed it - a bunch. Unfortunately, she couldn't remember the town or the restaurant. So, if any of you have had really good prime rib in a small South Dakota town, please let me know!
The rest of the day was quiet, so I got a chance to practice my napping again. The evening was spent with friends in the RV-Dreams chat room and watching one of my favorites get the boot from American Idol.
As far as today, I believe there might be an opportunity to practice napping again while we wait for the sun to return from behind these clouds. It's still a great life!

Ellie - don't know of any particular town in SD for prime rib, but anywhere in the Black Hills would be wonderful to visit! Beware of Sturgis time! It was packed, wall to wall harleys, but we had a wonderful time and met some wonderful people! Oh, I want to get back on the road again! Kerry
My daughter called today from Salt Lake City (where we're headed) and said they also got snow. I told her that stuff needs to be gone before we get there.

You might try the prime rib in Hill City - I'm told there is a restaurant there with many small dining rooms (in a renovated house) that serves the best prime rib. When we were in the Black Hills last summer, we did not have an opportunity to go to Hill City - but there is much to do around Sturgis that has nothing to do with motorcycles. If you get a chance, take the back road and see the old cemetary and the fort...amazing museum!
Try googling Hill City SD - I'm told there is a restaurant there that serves the best prime rib in the world.
Last year when we were in the Black hills, we enjoyed the fort and the military cemetary in Sturgis - followed a back road and came out at a working fort - great museum!
